            The article “Russian, Chinese arms used in Darfur abuse: Amnesty,” written by Mohammed Abbas and edited by Andrew Roche, raises the question of China and Russia’s purpose and wants with and from the Sudanese government.            Within the article, the Abbas mentions the death to be near 300,000 in Darfur alone and speculates the knowledge of both China and Russia that the arms they are directly importing to Sudan are being used to murder civilians. He also references a quote by Brian wood, an expert on military and policing for Amnesty International, stating the only proper involvement would be to immediately suspend the transfers to Sudan and to expand the United Nations’ arm embargo to the entire country of Sudan.             This piece really opened my eyes to the current day-to-day international troubles Sudan is participating in as well as raises the question of the wants of China and Russia. I think this article will help in my paper as it lends a helping hand to my ‘current issues’ portion of my research and puts the involvement by the United States into perspective.
