In the subsections, “What has been the U.S. role in Darfur?” and “Do experts expect a resolution to the crisis?” of the article entitled “Darfur: Crisis Continues,” Carin Zississ speaks directly to the issue of genocide in Darfur, blaming both the Janjaweed and the Sudanese government for the atrocities. She also explains the peace negotiations Bush pressed for while he was in office.             This article finds a quote by then-U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell: “genocide has been committed in Darfur and that the Government of Sudan and the Janjaweed bear responsibility.” It also references the various peace negotiations implemented and pressed by the United States during Bush’s time in office. Notably, the author also quotes Brooking Institution Senior Fellow Roberta Cohen: “Sudan is not a main strategic interest for the United States.”            I like this article very much. The author quotes U.S. officials admitting there is a problem in Darfur, something I have been wanting and unable to find in my research.
